TREE THINNING

Tree Thinning Is Useful To Prevent Fire And Disease

Tree thinning is the process of removing unwanted trees that surround the trees you want to keep. Trees can sometimes grow so close to each other causing damage to their health. To many trees in a circle can prevent sunlight and propagate moss growth which can lead to damaged and diseased trees. Tree thinning is usually performed to increase resistance in withstanding environmental stress such as insect infestation, extreme weather conditions and drought. The best way to tell if your trees need thinning is to assess the moss levels on your trees while observing levels of sunlight on the trunk of the trees. We as a professional Eugene tree service will consider tree thinning when making our assessment. We are happy to assist you in having a well groomed forest.

Tree Thinning Using Defensible Space Techniques For Fire Control

Defensible Space Techniques to thin trees on your property will promote healthy trees and reduce fire threat.

  1. Remove smaller trees within 6-8 feet of larger trees. Remove the less dominant trees allowing the more dominant tree to survive. In the event of a fire, smaller trees bridge the fire to larger trees causing a ladder effect which spreads a fire rapidly. From there a fire can easily jump from crown to crown.
  2. Raise or lift the lower crown limbs 6-8 feet above the ground.
  3. Remove dead limbs and get rid of fallen limbs and dead debris surrounding the base of trees.

Trailblazing

Sometimes customers have thick trees on there property that need to be passed through. A process of tree thinning called trailblazing can be performed. We can trail blaze a path through forest on your property. Allowing yourself quick access of vehicles and farm equipment to the other side of your property will save you time and trouble.
